A transit of the Kiel Canal preceeds this cruise to the former Hanseatic lands. From the pier in Warnemunde, your exclusive Civilisations tour departs for a day-long visit to the German capital.  Focussed on the great works and architecture of Berlin, you'll see its major sites, including the Brandenburg Gate and Reichstag, as well as visiting the Alte Nationalgalerie, home to numerous Impressionist works by Monet, Renoir, Degas and Cezanne.You'll also visit the landmark Bauhaus Museum and the contemporary Hamburger Bahnhof gallery, which contains works by Warhol and Lichtenstein.

After a day's cruising, we arrive in Tallinn and visit Alexander Nevsky Cathedral and St. Nicolas Church founded in 1230 and presently an art gallery.

Our three-day stay in St. Petersburg offers the chance for an in-depth appreciation of this great city, including St. Issac's Cathedral, the Summer Palace and Gardens and the Hermitage.The Civilisations tour takes you to the Russian Academy of Fine Arts, where the curator will show us the unique items in the collection.You'll also visit the Russian Museum, partly housed in the former Mikhailovsky Palace built by Alexander I for his younger brother Grand Duke Michael, and charting every major development of Russian art.

In Helsinki we visit the former home and studio of Akseli Gallen-Kallela, Finland's national artist, who designed and built the house himself between 1911 and 1913.You'll also see the Uspenski Cathedral, new Opera House, the 1952
Olympic Stadium, Parliament House and the Finlandia Hall designed by famed Alvar Aalto.

Visby is a living museum of narrow cobbled streets behind 13th century walls and here we visit the county museum, as well as a medieval church and take a trip into the island's peaceful countryside. In Hesingborg we take a short ferry
ride from Sweden to Denmark to visit LaMa Glass for a demonstration of glass blowing.

In Oslo we visit the famous Munch museum, thence to Vigeland Park to see the world's largest collection of sculptures
created by a single artist. Gustav Vigeland's prolific work depicts almost every facet of life.

After a relaxing full day's cruising you're back in Dover at breakfast time.
